About clowns and stuff…

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I’m not so good at making themed kits. I know that, and generally I just make it a point not to make them. I have no birthdaykits, no Christmas, no Easterbunnies or Farmkits, and that’s perfectly ok with me. I don’t like the limitations kits like these give me. Granted, I have got a Winterkit and both a girls and boys kit, but those are different. There’s plenty of stuff you can make that falls under those categories, in those cases it’s rather just a color scheme I’m sticking to…

But this time I decided to take the leap. I had this paperpack I released over a year ago that was called Clownerie. It had nothing to do with clowns, the name just referred to the bright colors and funky patterns I had used, they reminded me of the bold costums clowns tend to wear. It never was a bestseller, and when I moved to Oscraps, I decided not to put it in the store anymore before I had made some elements to go with it. And there you had it, with a name like Clownerie, what else could I do than to make a kit about clowns?

Well, I’m telling you, never before has it taken me so long to finish a kit. A clowns kit needs clowns, that’s a given. And since I’m not so good at drawing, I decided to try making them out of clay. I discovered I wasn’t that bad at it and made 6 cute clowns I was very happy about. That was about 7 months ago. Then the clown project moved to my HD, I decided to wait until inspiration really hit me to finish it, at that point I was already extremely bothered by the limitations I thought this kit would give me (it’s all in the head, baby). Every now and then I made one or two goodies to go with it before I cursed it again, telling myself themed kits are just not my thing. Until one day earlier this month, I took the bull by its horns and finished it. And now that I have, I’m actually quite happy about it! So without no further ado, here it finally is: Clownerie!

And if you’ve made it this far in my post, you deserve a little coupon to go grab it in the store at a 15% discount!

Until January, 31, use the coupon code Ofunnyclowns during checkout in my store at Oscraps, and you’ll receive the discount. And if you need some inspiration to scrap with it, here are some fabulous pages by my talented team:

Thank you for these pages girls! You rock!!

Like I told you in an earlier post, I’m a guest CT for MK Designs this month, and I’m really having a blast. She has some of the most amazing kits, and I’m having so much fun working with them!

Here is a page with ‘Just Himself‘, the first page I scrapped about my brother (isn’t he the cutest?)

And one of my favorite kits of her is ‘She is‘. The colors in this kit are gorgeous and it’s so full of yummy goodies! Here’s my page with it:

Another fabulous kit is ‘Zauberkarousel’. This kit has an addon so big, it’s actually like two kits you’re getting for the price of one!! Filled with gorgeous stuff, I’m telling you.

And next week another fantastic kit will hit her store: ‘Key to my Heart’. If you want a sneak peek, here are 2 pages I did with it:

And Madame Mim also has a wonderful new kit out! It’s called ‘Sleep Tight‘ and here is my page with it:

And I want to finish this post with another sneak peek. :) I’ve finished another kit, which will hit the store on Monday. All I can say is that it’s one of my favorites so far!! Be sure to watch out for the Oscraps newsletter (or visit me again here on Monday) for another coupon. Here is a page I did with my new kit ‘Cherish Happiness’:

See you on Monday, have a fabulous weekend!!

New Eye on design - Kaat Tilley

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Hello, Scrapness speaking!

I’m very nervous because this is my first post on Kim’s blog! Feels like muddy footprints in fresh snow, disturbing all the whiteness and fluffyness! But I have a good reason to do this!

Every two weeks I will try to inspire you to make lay-outs from a different point of view! Everywhere we look, we can find inspiration to make new, fresh digital pages! So where I put my eye on, I will show you and I will bring you my version of how I got inspired by this! So lets call it a New Eye on Design! It could be the cover of a magazine, architecture, art, sculpture, fashion, jewelry, gadgets, postcards or just whatever we find beautiful…

Today I want to introduce to you Kaat Tilley! She is a well known Belgian fashion designer. Her style is very magical, yet fit to the modern woman! If I had all the money in the world, I would buy out her store, but designer clothing are very expensive! but good thing is : inspiration is free!!

If you check her site, you will see she also does some kind of scrapbooking/art journal herself! She is very active as a fashion designer, but she also makes costumes, did some interior designing for a hotel, and made some wonderfull jewelry!

And I wanted to do something about fashion, but I ended up getting inspired by this beautiful piece of jewelry that she made.

So this lay out is what I came up with.

See you in two weeks for another, exciting blogpost!

Bad start of 2009 and some pages!

First of all: happy New Year! I hope you had a great start of 2009. Personally, I did not…
I spent New Year’s Eve flat on my back with severe back pains again. It wasn’t fun, although dh did his best to make it as comfy as possible. He had ordered some food and we all had our dinner on our (new) couch. Something I would never allow under normal circumstances, but it was either that or no dinner for me, lol. It seems like this is going to be a challenging year, because in the mean time all sort of other health issues are bothering me… Since a week, half of my left hand is numb. It could be caused by the problems I have in my back, but the doctor wants me to wait another 2 weeks before I see a neurologist. Since I’m left handed, it’s a pain to write or pretty much everything else. And a tooth in my mouth broke, the second one in a month. And I just heard from the eye doctor I need glasses. Boy, I feel like an old woman.

Talking about glasses, my little girl needs them too. That saddens me, she’s only 4 yrs old and she will have to wear them her whole life long. Ofcourse later on she can always switch to lenses, but there’s no chance her eyes will ever get better. I hope they won’t bother her too much, she’s always so active and a real tomboy and she’s in a gym club, I bet her first pair won’t last very long. And I really hope I can find a pair that does justice to her pretty little face… And that the children at school won’t laugh at her…
Luckily, she is excited about it herself, lol. I just hope she will stay excited once she gets them!

On a more positive note: I have 10 new CT girls! I will add their names to the CT roll later on, but I first want to show you some of the pages they’ve already made!

And this month, I am a guest for MK Designs, she sells at TDC. She makes beautiful kits! I finished my first page with her kit ‘Thoughts’ for her yesterday:

And for my other Ct, Madame Mim’s, I created this one, it’s about my mother:

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
